What this grade is
This is the 10 bar grade of our compressed air line, and it is one of the three Flexihose products that conform to an Indian Standard rather than exceed one. Air Hose Type 1 and Type 2 are BIS licensed to IS 446-2017. That distinction matters on an audit: a hose that exceeds a standard carries no licence, and this one does.
It is built for compressors, pneumatic tools and general shop air. The tube and cover are modified natural and synthetic rubber blends and the reinforcement is high-tenacity synthetic textile yarn braid, so the hose stays light and flexible in the hand at 145 PSI / 10 BAR. Where the duty is harder than that, the 20 bar industrial air hose is the next grade up, and the air and rock drill hose carries a steel braid for mine and quarry service.
How it is built
Tube
Modified natural and synthetic blends of rubber compound, extruded seamless.
Reinforcement
Single or double braids of high-tenacity synthetic textile yarn. No steel wire in this grade, which is what keeps it light to drag around a shop floor.
Cover
Modified natural and synthetic blends of rubber compound, resistant to ageing and abrasion.

What this product is not rated for
Naming the limit is part of specifying correctly. If your duty sits outside any of these, say so when you enquire and we will point you at the right grade.
- Not rated above 145 PSI / 10 BAR. For compressor lines working harder than that, use the 20 bar grade at 300 PSI / 20 BAR.
- Not rated outside −25 °C to +70 °C. This is a lower band than our air and rock drill grade. Cold stores and hot process areas need checking first.
- Not a steam hose. Steam duty needs an EPDM tube and a wire braid. See the 10 bar and 17 bar steam grades.
- Not an abrasive media hose. Air with sand or grit in it wears a plain air hose through. Blast duty needs a sand blast hose.
- No CM/L number is published on this page. The grade is BIS licensed to IS 446-2017. The licence number itself is available to a buyer on request.

Questions
What is the working pressure of a 10 bar air hose?
145 PSI / 10 BAR across every bore from 1/2″ to 2″, with a minimum burst pressure of 580 PSI / 40 BAR. Both figures are the catalogue's printed pairs.
Is this air hose BIS licensed?
Yes. Air Hose Type 1 and Type 2 are BIS licensed to IS 446-2017, and this page covers the Type 1 grade. Most hoses sold in this category only exceed an IS number and carry no licence, so it is worth checking the wording on any quotation you compare.
What sizes does the 10 bar air hose come in?
Six bores: 1/2″ (12.50 mm), 3/4″ (20.00 mm), 1″ (25.00 mm), 1-1/4″ (31.50 mm), 1-1/2″ (38.00 mm) and 2″ (51.00 mm). Mean outside diameters run from 20.50 mm to 65.00 mm.
What temperature can this air hose take?
The rated service band is −25 °C to +70 °C. Outside it, tell us the duty before ordering.
What is the difference between the 10 bar and the 20 bar air hose?
Pressure and temperature. The 10 bar grade conforms to IS 446 Type 1 at 145 PSI / 10 BAR and is rated −25 °C to +70 °C. The 20 bar grade exceeds IS 446 Type 2 at 300 PSI / 20 BAR and is rated −30 °C to +80 °C, but it is not BIS licensed.
Do you supply the hose with couplings fitted?
Yes. Tell us the coupling type and whether you want ends fitted, and we will supply the assembly cut to length.
Can I use an air hose for water?
Ask us first. We make a dedicated water hose, and IS 444 Type 2 water hose is a separate BIS-licensed product with its own pressure and temperature ratings.
