What a water hose is
A water hose carries water and water-based liquids under pressure on construction, engineering and irrigation duty. This grade is reinforced with a double high-tenacity synthetic textile yarn braid.
It is the only hose in this range that conforms to its Indian Standard and carries a BIS licence. Everywhere else on this site we are careful to write "exceeds", because exceeding a standard and being licensed against it are different claims. Here the stronger claim is the accurate one.
Working pressure is 145 PSI / 10 BAR across every bore. Minimum burst is 435 PSI / 30 BAR.
How it is built
Lining
Modified natural and synthetic rubber blend. Built for potable-adjacent general water duty rather than chemicals or oil.
Reinforcement
Two braids of high-tenacity synthetic textile yarn. Textile rather than wire, which is what keeps a water hose easy to handle and coil on site.
Cover
Modified natural and synthetic rubber blend resistant to ageing and abrasion — the properties that decide how long a hose survives being dragged across blockwork and left in sun.

Specifying for UAE site conditions
The constraint in the Gulf is not pressure, it is ultraviolet and heat ageing. A water hose on an open site in Dubai or Abu Dhabi spends its life in direct sun at ambient temperatures that sit near the top of its service band for months at a time. The cover compound is the part that decides service life, not the braid.
Specify on bore and on the working pressure at the outlet, then store coils out of direct sun between shifts. A hose that is shaded when idle lasts materially longer than one left flaked out on a slab.
Couplings and fittings
Water hose is coupled with worm-drive or band clamps over a tail, or with crimped ferrules where the joint is permanent. Size the clamp to the hose's mean outside diameter, which is published for every bore in the table above.
Unlike a steam hose, a screw clamp is legitimate here — the wall does not cycle through a large temperature swing, so the clamp keeps its grip. Tell us the bore and whether you want ends fitted and we will supply the assembly made up.
What this hose is not for
Published because the wrong hose is a failure in service, not an inconvenience. If your duty is in this list, say so and we will route you to the right product or tell you plainly that we do not have it.
Not a chemical or oil hose.
The lining is a natural and synthetic rubber blend, formulated for water. Hydrocarbons and solvents attack it. Tell us the medium, not just the pressure.
Not a suction hose.
There is no helix wire in this grade, so it will collapse under vacuum. For suction duty use the water suction and discharge hose instead.
Not a potable-water certified hose.
We hold no drinking-water approval for this grade and make no potable claim. If your specification requires one, say so and we will tell you plainly that we do not have it.
Not a fire hose.
Fire service has its own approvals regime and this hose is not part of it.
Use in the United Arab Emirates
The UAE buys hose through two different doors. Dubai and Jebel Ali are a distribution hub, where stock on a shelf in a free zone competes with a factory in India. Abu Dhabi is heavy industry: downstream refining at Ruwais is among the largest single-site refining complexes anywhere, and Musaffah is a working industrial district of machining, offshore fabrication and shipyards with a long private waterfront. Steam and blast hose consumption follows the second, while purchasing often happens through the first.
Water hose demand in the UAE is construction-led — dewatering, dust suppression, concrete works and landscape irrigation across the emirates.
Downstream refining
Steam tracing and cleaning duty on the Ruwais refining and petrochemical complex.
Shipyards and offshore
Hull and structure blasting at the Musaffah yards and the Dubai maritime cluster.
Metals and smelting
Surface preparation and plant steam across the Abu Dhabi industrial zones.
Oil and gas fabrication
Pipe and vessel blasting in the fabrication yards serving offshore work.
Free-zone distribution
Coil stock into Jebel Ali and Khalifa Port for onward regional supply.
Construction and cement
Structural blasting and steam service in the Northern Emirates industrial belt.
Shipping to the UAE
We ship from Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mundra on FOB, CIF and CFR terms. Transit below is time from sailing, not from order — add production time, which we confirm on the quotation.
- Jebel Ali, Dubaiex Nhava Sheva. 4 to 10 days ex Mundra4 to 8 days
- Khor Fakkan3 to 9 days
- Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi4 to 10 days
These ranges are working figures for planning. They are confirmed against the sailing schedule at the time of quotation.
We also ship to Port Khalid, Sharjah, Port of Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah. We do not publish a transit range for those lanes because we do not have a figure we can stand behind, so transit is confirmed at the time of quotation.
Documents and conformity
Stated plainly rather than implied, because this is what most export enquiries actually turn on.
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list
- Certificate of origin
- Bill of lading
- Test certificates
What we do and do not certify
UAE conformity requirements are administered by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. ECAS and EQM apply to product categories on the regulated list, and industrial rubber hose was not among the categories in the guidance we have seen. Confirm your own position with your customs broker rather than relying on this page. We supply the consignment document set below and batch test reports; we hold no UAE conformity certificate and do not claim one.
Getting a quotation for the UAE
Send the duty, not just the part number
Bore, working pressure at the hose, medium and temperature. Those four decide the grade.
Name the delivery port
Jebel Ali, Dubai or whichever port you clear through. We quote FOB and CIF side by side so you can compare against a local stockist honestly.
Tell us the documentation you need
Batch test certificates or a specific certificate of origin format. Asking at quotation stage is free; asking after dispatch is not.
Questions about water hose in the UAE
What pressure does the water hose take?
Working pressure is 145 PSI / 10 BAR across every bore. Minimum burst is 435 PSI / 30 BAR.
What sizes are available?
6 sizes, from 1/2″ to 2″ (12.50 to 50.00 mm). Every size is listed individually in the specification table above, with the figures your fitting has to match.
What is the service temperature range?
−25 C to +70 C, as printed in the catalogue. We publish no figure outside that band, so if your duty runs hotter or colder, tell us before ordering rather than after.
Is it BIS certified?
Yes. It conforms to IS 444-2017 Type 2 and is BIS licensed under CM/L No. 8400124510. This is the one grade in the range where "certified" is the accurate word — every other hose citing an IS number exceeds it and carries no licence.
Do you supply to the UAE?
Yes. We ship from Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mundra on FOB, CIF and CFR terms, with Jebel Ali, Dubai typically 4 to 8 days from sailing. Transit ranges for the other UAE lanes we serve are in the shipping section above.
What documents come with the shipment?
Commercial invoice, Packing list, Certificate of origin, Bill of lading, Test certificates. Conformity certification required by the UAE scheme sits with the importer of record; we hold no UAE conformity certificate and do not claim one.
Can you fit couplings before dispatch?
Yes. Tell us the bore, the fitting standard you work to and the assembly length, and we supply the hose made up rather than loose. Size the fitting to the hose's outside diameter, which is published for every bore above.
What is the HS code?
We do not publish one, because classification is the importer's declaration and an error at your border is your cost rather than ours. Our export desk states the code we invoice under on the quotation so your broker can confirm it against the current UAE tariff schedule.
What length is supplied?
The catalogue prints no standard coil or cut length for this grade, so we publish none rather than invent one. Tell us the length you need and we will confirm what the works can supply.
How do I get a quotation?
Send the bore, quantity, fitting requirement and delivery port. WhatsApp is the fastest route. A quotation with an FOB and a CIF figure and a transit range for your port comes back the same working day in most cases.
Is the water hose actually BIS certified?
Yes, and this is the one product where we can say so. It conforms to IS 444-2017 Type 2 and is BIS licensed under CM/L No. 8400124510. Every other hose on this site that cites an IS number exceeds it and carries no licence, and we say so on those pages.
Can it be used for irrigation?
Yes — general-purpose water application in construction, engineering and irrigation is exactly the catalogued application. For long flat runs at lower pressure, the lay flat discharge hose is usually the cheaper answer per metre.
Will it handle UAE summer temperatures?
The published service band covers normal UAE ambient conditions, but sustained direct sun is what ages a cover. Keep coils shaded when not in use. If your duty involves hot water rather than ambient, give us the actual water temperature before ordering.
What is the difference between this and the lay flat hose?
This is a round, braided hose that holds its shape empty and takes clamps and fittings conventionally. Lay flat collapses when empty, which makes it far easier to store and roll out over distance, but it is discharge-only and handles differently.
