What a cable coolant / carbon free hose is

A cable coolant or carbon free hose carries cooling water to water-cooled cables and electrodes in electric furnaces. The duty is electrical as much as hydraulic: the hose sits in a circuit where the coolant path must not become a conducting path.

The lining is a white synthetic rubber compound free of carbon black. Carbon black is what makes ordinary rubber slightly conductive, so leaving it out is the entire point of the product — hence "carbon free".

Working pressure changes with bore, from 14 to 17.20 BAR across the range. Read the figure from the row for your bore in the table above.

How it is built

Lining

White synthetic rubber compound. The absence of carbon black is what gives the hose its non-conductive character in furnace coolant service.

Reinforcement

Single or double high-tenacity synthetic textile yarn braids. Textile throughout — there is no wire in the wall, by design.

Cover

Green rubber compound resistant to abrasion, ageing and ozone, so the hose is identifiable on sight in a plant that also runs conventional black hose.

Transcription note

Note: the 2″ size has a lower rating (200 PSI / 14 BAR working, 800 PSI / 56 BAR burst) than the rest of the range.

Non-conductive does not mean tested to a voltage

This hose is built for non-conductive applications and the compound is formulated without carbon black for that reason. What the catalogue does not give is a dielectric test value — a withstand voltage, a resistivity figure, or a test standard.

So we describe it as the catalogue does, as a hose for non-conductive furnace coolant application, and we do not publish an electrical rating for it. If your specification demands a tested dielectric figure, ask us before you order and we will answer from the works rather than inferring one from the compound.

Couplings and fittings

Couple with non-conductive fittings appropriate to the circuit, sized to the hose's mean outside diameter from the table above. A metal coupling on a non-conductive hose reintroduces the conducting path the hose exists to avoid, so the fitting choice is part of the specification rather than an afterthought.

Tell us the bore, the circuit and whether you need ends fitted, and we will supply the assembly made up.

What this hose is not for

Published because the wrong hose is a failure in service, not an inconvenience. If your duty is in this list, say so and we will route you to the right product or tell you plainly that we do not have it.

No published dielectric rating.

The catalogue gives no withstand voltage, resistivity value or electrical test standard for this hose. We publish none and will not infer one from the compound.

The 2″ size is de-rated.

Seven of the eight bores share one working pressure. The 2″ size is rated lower. Read the pressure from the row for your bore, not from the top of the table.

Asbestos cover variant not offered for the UAE.

The catalogue lists an optional asbestos cover. Asbestos is prohibited in the UAE, so we do not offer or quote that variant into this market.

Not a general water or hydraulic hose.

This is a furnace coolant product. Specifying it as a utility water hose wastes its only distinguishing property.

Use in the United Arab Emirates

The UAE buys hose through two different doors. Dubai and Jebel Ali are a distribution hub, where stock on a shelf in a free zone competes with a factory in India. Abu Dhabi is heavy industry: downstream refining at Ruwais is among the largest single-site refining complexes anywhere, and Musaffah is a working industrial district of machining, offshore fabrication and shipyards with a long private waterfront. Steam and blast hose consumption follows the second, while purchasing often happens through the first.

Cable coolant demand in the UAE is concentrated in steel and aluminium melting operations and in heavy electrical plant.

Downstream refining

Steam tracing and cleaning duty on the Ruwais refining and petrochemical complex.

Shipyards and offshore

Hull and structure blasting at the Musaffah yards and the Dubai maritime cluster.

Metals and smelting

Surface preparation and plant steam across the Abu Dhabi industrial zones.

Oil and gas fabrication

Pipe and vessel blasting in the fabrication yards serving offshore work.

Free-zone distribution

Coil stock into Jebel Ali and Khalifa Port for onward regional supply.

Construction and cement

Structural blasting and steam service in the Northern Emirates industrial belt.

Shipping to the UAE

We ship from Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mundra on FOB, CIF and CFR terms. Transit below is time from sailing, not from order — add production time, which we confirm on the quotation.

  • Jebel Ali, Dubaiex Nhava Sheva. 4 to 10 days ex Mundra4 to 8 days
  • Khor Fakkan3 to 9 days
  • Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi4 to 10 days

These ranges are working figures for planning. They are confirmed against the sailing schedule at the time of quotation.

We also ship to Port Khalid, Sharjah, Port of Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah. We do not publish a transit range for those lanes because we do not have a figure we can stand behind, so transit is confirmed at the time of quotation.

Documents and conformity

Stated plainly rather than implied, because this is what most export enquiries actually turn on.

  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Certificate of origin
  • Bill of lading
  • Test certificates

What we do and do not certify

UAE conformity requirements are administered by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. ECAS and EQM apply to product categories on the regulated list, and industrial rubber hose was not among the categories in the guidance we have seen. Confirm your own position with your customs broker rather than relying on this page. We supply the consignment document set below and batch test reports; we hold no UAE conformity certificate and do not claim one.

Getting a quotation for the UAE

Send the duty, not just the part number

Bore, working pressure at the hose, medium and temperature. Those four decide the grade.

Name the delivery port

Jebel Ali, Dubai or whichever port you clear through. We quote FOB and CIF side by side so you can compare against a local stockist honestly.

Tell us the documentation you need

Batch test certificates or a specific certificate of origin format. Asking at quotation stage is free; asking after dispatch is not.

Questions about cable coolant / carbon free hose in the UAE

What pressure does the cable coolant / carbon free hose take?

Working pressure changes with bore, from 14 to 17.20 BAR across the range. Read the figure from the row for your bore in the table above.

What sizes are available?

8 sizes, from 3/8″ to 2″ (10.00 to 50.00 mm). Every size is listed individually in the specification table above, with the figures your fitting has to match.

What is the service temperature range?

−40 C to +100 C, as printed in the catalogue. We publish no figure outside that band, so if your duty runs hotter or colder, tell us before ordering rather than after.

Is it BIS certified?

This grade is built to the catalogue specification shown above. It carries no BIS licence and we do not describe it as certified, compliant or conforming.

Do you supply to the UAE?

Yes. We ship from Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mundra on FOB, CIF and CFR terms, with Jebel Ali, Dubai typically 4 to 8 days from sailing. Transit ranges for the other UAE lanes we serve are in the shipping section above.

What documents come with the shipment?

Commercial invoice, Packing list, Certificate of origin, Bill of lading, Test certificates. Conformity certification required by the UAE scheme sits with the importer of record; we hold no UAE conformity certificate and do not claim one.

Can you fit couplings before dispatch?

Yes. Tell us the bore, the fitting standard you work to and the assembly length, and we supply the hose made up rather than loose. Size the fitting to the hose's outside diameter, which is published for every bore above.

What is the HS code?

We do not publish one, because classification is the importer's declaration and an error at your border is your cost rather than ours. Our export desk states the code we invoice under on the quotation so your broker can confirm it against the current UAE tariff schedule.

What length is supplied?

The catalogue prints no standard coil or cut length for this grade, so we publish none rather than invent one. Tell us the length you need and we will confirm what the works can supply.

How do I get a quotation?

Send the bore, quantity, fitting requirement and delivery port. WhatsApp is the fastest route. A quotation with an FOB and a CIF figure and a transit range for your port comes back the same working day in most cases.

What does "carbon free" actually mean?

The lining compound is made without carbon black. Carbon black is the filler that makes ordinary rubber slightly electrically conductive, so omitting it is what makes the hose suitable for non-conductive furnace coolant duty. The lining is white rather than black for the same reason.

What voltage is it rated for?

We do not publish one. The catalogue describes the product for non-conductive application but gives no withstand voltage, resistivity figure or test standard, so there is no rating for us to quote. Ask before ordering if your specification requires a tested figure.

Is the pressure the same across all sizes?

No. Seven of the eight bores share one working pressure and the 2″ size is rated lower. The table above gives the figure for each bore individually, which is the only figure you should design to.

Can I get it with the asbestos cover?

Not for the UAE. The catalogue offers that variant, but asbestos is prohibited in the UAE and we will not quote it into this market. The standard green cover is what we supply here.
