What Is PTFE Hose (Teflon Hose)?
A PTFE hose — also called a teflon hose, PTFE teflon hose, or hose teflon — is a flexible hose assembly consisting of a virgin PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) inner tube with an external stainless steel wire braid. PTFE, commercially known as Teflon, is chemically inert to virtually all industrial chemicals, solvents, acids, and alkalis — making PTFE hose the correct choice when rubber hose or stainless steel hose is not chemically compatible with the process fluid. Flexihose India manufactures PTFE hose to the SAE 100 R14 standard at our ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 certified plant in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan.
The teflon hose inner tube is extruded from virgin PTFE resin — not recycled or filled PTFE — ensuring maximum chemical resistance, low friction, and high purity. The smooth bore PTFE liner provides excellent flow characteristics and is easy to clean, making it ideal for pharmaceutical, food-grade, and high-purity chemical process applications. Convoluted (corrugated) bore PTFE hose is also available where greater flexibility is required at the cost of slightly higher pressure drop.
Flexihose India manufactures PTFE teflon hose at our ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 certified plant in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan — approximately 60 km from Delhi. We supply factory-direct to chemical, pharmaceutical, power generation, food processing, and automotive buyers across India and export to the GCC. Bore sizes from 1/4″ to 2″ with working pressures from 69 bar (2″ bore) to 345 bar (1/4″ bore) depending on braid configuration.
PTFE Hose — Types & Configurations
Flexihose PTFE teflon hose is available in four main configurations — select based on your pressure requirement, bore profile, and application environment.
Smooth bore virgin PTFE inner tube with a single layer of stainless steel wire braid. The most widely used PTFE hose configuration — suitable for chemical transfer, pharmaceutical process lines, food-grade applications, and hydraulic circuits with aggressive fluids.
Smooth bore PTFE inner tube with two layers of stainless steel wire braid for higher working pressure. Specified for high-pressure chemical injection lines, hydraulic circuits with aggressive fluids, and process applications where single braid pressure ratings are insufficient.
Convoluted (corrugated) PTFE inner tube with stainless steel wire braid. Provides greater flexibility and tighter bend radius than smooth bore PTFE hose — suitable for tight routing, vibration absorption, and applications where installation space is limited.
Carbon-loaded (electrically conductive) PTFE inner tube with stainless steel wire braid. Prevents static charge build-up during transfer of flammable solvents, fuels, and chemicals — required in ATEX/hazardous area applications and fuel dispensing systems.

How to Select the Right PTFE Hose — Procurement Guide
A practical step-by-step guide for procurement managers, plant engineers, and project buyers selecting PTFE teflon hose for chemical, pharmaceutical, power generation, and industrial applications.
Confirm the Media & Chemical Compatibility
PTFE (Teflon) is chemically inert to virtually all industrial chemicals — acids, alkalis, solvents, fuels, and aggressive process fluids. The main exceptions are molten alkali metals (sodium, potassium), elemental fluorine at high temperatures, and certain fluorinated compounds. For all other media, PTFE hose is the correct choice when rubber or stainless steel hose is not chemically compatible. If in doubt, share your media list with our technical team for confirmation.
Choose Smooth Bore or Convoluted Bore
Smooth bore PTFE hose (SAE 100 R14 Type A/B) provides lower pressure drop, better flow characteristics, and easier cleaning — preferred for pharmaceutical, food-grade, and high-purity chemical applications. Convoluted (corrugated) bore PTFE hose provides greater flexibility and tighter minimum bend radius — preferred where installation space is limited or where the hose must flex repeatedly in service. Specify bore type when ordering.
Select Single or Double Braid
Single braid PTFE hose (SAE 100 R14 Type A) covers working pressures from 69 bar (2″ bore) to 345 bar (1/4″ bore) — suitable for most chemical, pharmaceutical, and process applications. Double braid (SAE 100 R14 Type B) provides approximately 1.5× higher working pressure — specified for high-pressure chemical injection, hydraulic circuits with aggressive fluids, and critical process lines. Confirm your required working pressure against the bore size before ordering.
Check the Temperature Requirement
PTFE hose operates from −60°C to +260°C — significantly wider than rubber hose (typically −40°C to +100°C). This makes PTFE teflon hose the correct choice for high-temperature chemical process lines, steam-traced piping, and cryogenic applications. Note that working pressure decreases at elevated temperatures — at +200°C, derate working pressure by approximately 25%. Confirm operating temperature when ordering for high-temperature service.
Specify End Connections
PTFE hose is typically supplied with end fittings — BSP, NPT, flanged (ANSI/DIN), JIC, or camlock — swaged or crimped to the hose ends. End fittings are available in AISI 304 or AISI 316L stainless steel. For pharmaceutical and food-grade applications, tri-clamp (sanitary) end fittings are available. Specify the end connection type, size, and material when ordering. For aggressive chemical service, AISI 316L fittings are recommended.

PTFE Hose — Construction & Materials
Layer-by-layer construction of Flexihose PTFE teflon hose — what each component does and why it matters for chemical resistance, pressure performance, and service life.
Virgin PTFE (Teflon) Inner Tube
The inner tube is extruded from virgin PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) resin — not recycled or filled PTFE. Virgin PTFE provides maximum chemical resistance (compatible with virtually all industrial chemicals), the lowest coefficient of friction of any solid material, non-stick surface for easy cleaning, and FDA/food-grade compliance. The smooth bore profile minimises pressure drop and prevents product contamination. This is the primary chemical barrier and the defining characteristic of a PTFE hose.
Stainless Steel Wire Braid
The external braid is woven from stainless steel wire (AISI 304 or AISI 316L) over the PTFE inner tube. The braid provides pressure resistance — it carries the hoop stress generated by internal pressure, allowing the PTFE tube to operate at working pressures far above its unbraided rating. Single braid (SAE 100 R14 Type A) covers up to 345 bar at 1/4″ bore. Double braid (SAE 100 R14 Type B) provides approximately 1.5× higher working pressure for demanding applications.
SAE 100 R14 Compliance
Flexihose PTFE hose is manufactured to SAE 100 R14 — the SAE International standard for PTFE hose assemblies with stainless steel wire braid. Type A specifies single braid; Type B specifies double braid. SAE 100 R14 compliance ensures the hose meets internationally accepted dimensional, pressure, and performance requirements — and is accepted in Indian and GCC procurement specifications for chemical, pharmaceutical, and industrial plant applications.
In-House Testing & Certification
Every production batch is tested at our Bhiwadi in-house laboratory with NABL-calibrated equipment: hydrostatic pressure test at 2× working pressure, burst pressure test, dimensional checks, and chemical resistance verification. Test certificates with actual measured values are issued as standard with every order — not templated data. Useful for tender submissions (BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, and other PSU buyers), plant commissioning documentation, and GCC export requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions — PTFE Hose & Teflon Hose
PTFE hose (also called teflon hose, PTFE teflon hose, or hose teflon) is a flexible hose assembly consisting of a virgin PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) inner tube with an external stainless steel wire braid. PTFE, commercially known as Teflon, is chemically inert to virtually all industrial chemicals, solvents, acids, and alkalis. PTFE hose is manufactured to SAE 100 R14 standard and operates from −60°C to +260°C. It is used in chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, power generation, and automotive applications where rubber or stainless steel hose is not chemically compatible.
Smooth bore PTFE hose has a straight, smooth inner tube — providing lower pressure drop, better flow characteristics, and easier cleaning. It is preferred for pharmaceutical, food-grade, and high-purity chemical applications. Convoluted (corrugated) bore PTFE hose has a corrugated inner tube — providing greater flexibility and a tighter minimum bend radius than smooth bore. It is preferred where installation space is limited or where the hose must flex repeatedly in service. Smooth bore is the more common configuration for most industrial applications.
SAE 100 R14 Type A specifies PTFE hose with a single layer of stainless steel wire braid. Type B specifies PTFE hose with two layers of stainless steel wire braid (double braid). Type B provides approximately 1.5× higher working pressure than Type A for the same bore size. Type A (single braid) is the standard configuration for most chemical, pharmaceutical, and process applications. Type B (double braid) is specified for high-pressure chemical injection lines, hydraulic circuits with aggressive fluids, and critical process applications where single braid pressure ratings are insufficient.
PTFE (Teflon) is chemically inert to virtually all industrial chemicals — including concentrated acids (hydrochloric, sulphuric, nitric, hydrofluoric), alkalis (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide), organic solvents (acetone, MEK, toluene, xylene), fuels, oils, and most aggressive process fluids. The main exceptions are molten alkali metals (sodium, potassium), elemental fluorine at high temperatures, and certain fluorinated compounds. For all other media, PTFE hose provides universal chemical resistance — making it the correct choice when rubber or stainless steel hose is not compatible. Share your media list with our technical team for confirmation.
Working pressure varies by bore size and braid configuration. For single braid PTFE hose (SAE 100 R14 Type A): 345 bar at 1/4″ bore, 310 bar at 5/16″, 275 bar at 3/8″, 207 bar at 1/2″, 138 bar at 3/4″, 103 bar at 1″, 86 bar at 1-1/4″, and 69 bar at 1-1/2″ and 2″. Double braid (Type B) provides approximately 1.5× higher working pressure. Note that working pressure decreases at elevated temperatures — derate by approximately 25% at +200°C. Contact us with your bore size and required working pressure for a recommendation.
PTFE hose operates from −60°C to +260°C — significantly wider than rubber hose (typically −40°C to +100°C) and comparable to stainless steel hose for most process applications. This makes PTFE teflon hose suitable for high-temperature chemical process lines, steam-traced piping, and cryogenic applications. Note that working pressure decreases at elevated temperatures — at +200°C, derate working pressure by approximately 25%. For applications above +260°C, stainless steel corrugated hose (EN ISO 10380) is the correct choice.
PTFE hose price in India varies by bore size, bore type (smooth/convoluted), braid configuration (single/double), hose length, end fitting type, and order quantity. As a direct manufacturer, Flexihose India offers factory-direct pricing without trading margins — significantly lower than distributor or trading company sources. Bulk orders and project supply attract further discounts. WhatsApp +91 8094002348 with your bore size, type, quantity, and city for a current price quote.
